Unique Concept to Help Homeless People
I received a unique comment from Laura (one of our readers) today on Helping the Homeless by Donating Unused Hotel Toiletries.
This powerful statement led me to do some research on just how I could get the message across to you. Did you know it is estimated that 600,000 families with 1.35 million children experience homelessness in the United States each year?
The official National Alliance to End Homelessness web site is dedicating to ending homelessness with a 10 point plan within 10 years. Whilst donating toiletries is not up there with housing and income, it does show support to our homeless. When I return home is nothing more satisfying than having a nice warm shower and cleaning myself. This is not something we should take for granted, as many of our homeless don’t experience such basics, which I’m sure most of you consider a necessity.
A 26 year old women from Tennessee in the United States has decided to Take Action to assist the homeless by spreading the word on her plan to inform the world to Donate Unused Hotel Toiletries to Help the Homeless.
An except from her web site:
“As an avid traveler I’ve collected my share of hotel toiletries. Many are donated to those in need, esp in cases of disasters like Katrina! I figured that if I’ve gathered this many bottles of shampoo, lotions, shower gels, shower caps, and conditioners, then think of all the other travelers who could do the same!…All those hotel stays add up! They can definitely be donated to those who truly need them. Women shelters and homeless shelters are always looking for donations! :)”
“Tip 1: When hotels change their name or close they often discard toiletries. Keep an eye out of hotels like this in your area and request their toiletries”
Whether you are a one off traveler, business traveler, celebrity, motel, hotel, resort owner or product manufacturer why not help extend this voice by doing your part for your local homeless community. Donations of Personal Care Items such as Deodorant, Toothpaste, Razors, Shaving Cream, Soap, Shampoo and Diapers are most needed.
Where can you donate?
