Like The New Blog Design?

With a new year comes a fresh new look for FSD.

We are progressing through a slightly different style design to make it easier for you to find your way around the site and a bit more pleasing on the eye.

What do you think of progress so far?

You can now share freebie posts with your friends easily using the Facebook and Twitter sharing buttons on the top right hand corner of every post. This adds to the Email To A Friend functionality which a lot of visitors have found useful for sometime.

We have also decided to remove the top right hand corner comment box which showed the number of comments for a post. We will still continue to show comments and allow you to make them! Comment counts are now only displayed on the bottom left hand side of the post.

Also, you will notice the star rating for each post has vanished. Never fear it will return – we are just refining it

Rate our Freebie Posts

If you have visited the site in the last 24 hours you will notice we now have a star rating scale for each freebie post. For the benefit of other visitors it would be great to see you give your honest rating on freebie posts so others can quickly establish which freebies the group see as top notch and which we may have thought were ok but turn out to be not soo good.

Don’t Advertise on FreeSamplesDirect

If you run a web site or blog that has visitors interested in fashion, beauty, freebies, coupons, frugal living or related content I’m sure you already receive a tonne of traffic and don’t need any more quality visitors so it’s probably not worth reading this post.

Especially as the advertising slots we have just made available on FSD are incredibly expensive and we only have 6050+ email newsletter subscribers, 1000 twitter followers and a mere few thousands readers stopping by regularly. Sounds like a small list of friends really…

Who can afford to pay these advertising rates whilst keeping food on the table and control of the family budget?

$1 for 24 hours
$5 for 1 week
$9.80 for 2 weeks
$19.93 for a month

Similar sites to FSD only charge up too $50-100 per month for similar advertising space in the upper right hand corner of their sites. After all, we all know the top right real estate on a site is the worst place to advertise, as we’d prefer to scroll down to see our published advertisements rather then having them right in our face where people might click them – am I right?

Michael Jackson’s Passing

I cannot let today go by without expressing my sadness at the passing of one of the most, if not the most, influential music pop legends of all time – Michael Jackson the king of pop.

Unless you have been living under a rock you would know by now that he passed away today.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael’s family and friends.
