A Visitor’s Heartfelt Gesture

I recently made a post asking if you would like to promote your company by providing free samples to fellow visitors.

Whilst I received many emails about this post, I wanted to share with you one email in particular which nearly had me in tears due to the generosity of this person’s offer. Note: Personal details have been changed to protect the sender,

“This is an enquiry e-mail via http://www.freesamplesdirect.com from:
<name removed> <removed@address.com>

I do not own a company. I have been disabled since <year> due to an accident <description>. I suffered an injury to my spine. I make jewelry from home for women. I make necklaces/earrings/bracelets. IF anyone is interested yes I give them away to many women. I give them as gifts for christmas and I also give them away as <personal details removed>. Just email me let me know who is interested and they will have it. I have tons of them too. Thank You so much. “

Post a comment and let me know if you think I did the right thing by declining such a heartfelt gesture?

Thanks again to the sender of this email for making my day – you know who you are :)

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Note: We encourage you to purchase the full product from the respective retailer/manufacturer if you like the sample you receive. Please only request products you are genuinely interested in. Samples are not provided by our site. Read our privacy policy and the terms/conditions of the provider before requesting a sample.

  7. Jill says:

  8. e cantera says:

no good deed goes un-punished – you did the right thing by DECLINING her offer.

  9. Chris says:

I think this would be great!

  10. Nan says:

I agree with all of the above because I too am disabled after being in a wreck a few years ago. This person encourages me and is an angel here on earth.

  11. pat koehler says:

that is so awesome she must be an angel one of the lords chosen ones. may god bless her and keep her under his wing i will keep them in my prayers

  12. Sheila Lyda says:

I’m sorry, but I disagree with you declining this offer. This person seems to derive joy by giving this jewelry away. It is truly more blessed to give than to receive and you denied him/her that blessing by refusing the offer.

I would like to give this person some advice if you would please pass it along. The jewelry could be donated to a senior center or school to be sold for fund-raising.

  13. Tammy says:

What a sweet person!! Make me what to send them a gift!!

  14. khoutz says:

I AGREE that you did the right thing because most people would take advantage of such an offer in the worst way… But maybe we could help her set up to give them to women who are fighting breast cancer.. My god mother died last year from breast cancer and I made dog tags for each of her grandchildren to wear around there neck…. It meant the world to them to always have her picture so close to them…

I think declining this offer was done out of respect. Some people have such a big heart that they will go to extremes to make others lives more pleasurable and not really know the headache of what they may be taking on. I love getting free samples to test a product and to see if I will like it or not. I am a big fan of your sight. I was just recently turned on to it by a person handing out samples in the store. Everyone now of days spend the money to buy things that they are not sure if they like it or not. For example: My children wanted to know what a mango tasted like. I spent $2.00 on a mango to find out if any of them liked it. No one did. That $2.00 could of bought us 10 bananas that would of been eaten. I wonder why samplers do not do samples of fruit and a vegt. Anyways You did the right thing. Bless you Have a great Thanksgiving Day.

  16. Melissa says:

u did the right thing esp. these days. It said to think it could of been real but u can’t take chances

  17. Nicole I says:

Please Please Please follow up with this woman. Ask her if she will allow you to post her email or direct us where we can BUY her jewelry and empower her and enable her to earn a living. This is the time of year to do this! I for one would love to give a piece of jewelry with such an inspiring message behind it. I am a believer in “pay it forward”….the deed will multiply exponentially.
Thanks for sharing…we can all use some good news these days.

  18. Alma P says:

I agree with you in declining the offer from that wonderful person who makes jewelry.

In my opinion this person would be BOMBARDED with requests for free jewerly and the financial expense would not be fair for this person to absorb.

  19. Cathy says:

Wow! I am disabled but unable to simply give away anything (besides I have no talent). This person renews my faith in people and perhaps you could put her in contact with a group that would appreciate her jewelry. Most cancer care centers are looking for bracelets or earrings the color of the cancer (ie: breast is pink, ovarian is teal) they survived and she may be able to make some money from her donations. Most cancer victims (and we are indeed victims) are grateful for just about anything. One of our local newscasters just died from breast cancer at the age of 37 and I’ll bet her family would love a small token in remembrance. Just a thought

  20. Dollyd says:

IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THIS DISABLED WOMAN? I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE SOME OF HER JEWELRY!!!
    THANK YOU~

  21. BettyW says:

Yes, I believe you were wrong. It seems the person had a desire to give. They wanted to give what they had! There are blessings in giving!

  22. cindiren says:

I think you should have accepted this persons over as this probably would have made him feel needed and worthy.

  23. ajoey says:

I think if a lady wishes to give items away. I figure hey.what the hell. Maybe someone could help her by donating money or food to aid her? I doubt its a scam. What would anyone really have to except time by requesting an item from someone?

  24. rosme says:

I want to get behind this woman (i assume it is a woman) and buy her jewlerry how do we purchase from her?

  25. Alissa says:

Guys I am so impressed by your responses particularly those who have turned this around and want to now purchase jewellery from this person.

I am contacting her again right now to point her to all these wonderful comments you have written and to see if I can find a way for her to be put in contact with you. I need to be mindful that scammers exist on the internet and protect her safety.

  26. Alissa says:

Valerie and Alma P – spot on I declined the offer out of respect and to ensure thousands of visitors didn’t take away financially from such a wonderful soul

  27. Tonna says:

I think you did the right thing. What a beautiful person. I would very much be interested in buying some of her jewerly if she will let us. She is such an inspiration in this day in age.

  28. Sandy M says:

This message is for Sheila Lyda yes, I have also given these samples away to a senior center here in Wayne, NJ. The samples were indeed very well received some of them were kept others raffled off. God bless you all.

  29. Sandy M says:

To those who are disabled or able bodied know that GOD loves all of us very much. He never gives us a load we cannot carry. I believe this, I never say why me. This can happen to anyone, anyone. When life gives you lemons we make lemonade. We do the very best we can out of bad situations. Look at life as a lesson. There are always lessons to be learned in our lifetime. I am 53 years of age. God bless you all very much. Have FAITH.

  30. Cindi says:

I, too, am disabled and also make things (jewelry, scarves, etc.), because I really don’t have much else to do that would be considered productive. Similar to the individual who submitted the offer, there becomes an over-abundance of items being created. Not knowing the extent of her disability and not knowing whether or not she has the mobility to get around, she really should consider donating her items to a hospital/hospitals in her area. You absolutely did the right thing in declining her offer….

  31. Alissa says:

The original poster Sandy has now posted in these posts under the name “Sandy M”.

Her husband Richard has also written to us to thank you all for your support – you can read his email here http://freesamplesdirect.com/blog/a-visitors-heartfelt-gesture-update/
